Summary:

RPO Recruitment’s client are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations/Plant Manager to oversee their food manufacturing facility in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing operations and management, with a proven track record of managing production processes, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the highest levels of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations at the food manufacturing plant, including production, quality control, maintenance, and safety.
• Develop and implement processes and procedures to optimize productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.
• Lead and manage a team of production staff, ensuring adequate training, motivation, and development.
• Monitor performance metrics and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with other departments such as procurement, logistics, and quality assurance to ensure efficient operation of the plant.
• Develop and manage the plant budget, including forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.
• Implement and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and quality throughout the plant.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role within the food manufacturing industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing an operations team and achieving production targets.
• Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
