RPO Recruitment’s client are looking for a talented and creative Kidswear Fashion Designer to join their team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for children’s fashion, with a keen eye for trends and a knack for creating unique and stylish designs that appeal to children and their parents.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop seasonal kidswear collections that are on-trend, age-appropriate, and reflect the brand’s aesthetic
• Research current fashion trends, color palettes, and fabric options to create innovative and marketable designs
• Collaborate with the design team to develop original prints and graphics for kidswear garments
• Create technical specifications, including sketches, CAD drawings, and tech packs, for production purposes
• Work closely with the merchandising and production teams to ensure timely delivery of samples and finished products
• Attend trade shows, fashion events, and market appointments to stay informed on industry trends and competitor offerings
• Provide input on pricing strategies, marketing campaigns, and promotional activities for kidswear products

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in kidswear design, preferably within the retail industry
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop
• Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, and fitting
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Knowledge of children’s sizing, fit preferences, and comfort requirements
• Familiarity with sustainable and ethical fashion practices is a plus
