Overview: RPO Recruitment’s client, in the food manufacturing industry, are seeking a qualified and experienced OHS Officer to join their team in Cape Town, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety practices, with specific experience in the food manufacturing industry. The OHS Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining all health and safety initiatives within the company to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and international regulations
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and risks
• Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
• Provide safety training and instruction to employees on proper safety practices and procedures
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all safety-related activities and incidents
• Collaborate with management to develop and improve safety programs and initiatives
• Stay up to date on industry best practices and trends in occupational health and safety

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the food manufacturing industry
• Knowledge of local and international safety regulations and standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
