RPO’s client is seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Eplan Electrical Design Engineer / Draftsperson to join their electrical engineering team in Alrode South, Alberton. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in Eplan-based design, a solid understanding of automation and control systems, and a background in developing electrical schematics for manufacturing, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design and develop detailed electrical schematics using Eplan (Electric P8, Pro Panel, etc.), including MCC, PLC, DB, and RIO layouts
Prepare GA layouts, network diagrams, panel wiring diagrams, and related electrical documentation
Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of control panels and systems
Support the manufacturing team with technical input, design clarifications, and production-readiness of designs
Create preliminary engineering proposals and technical documentation for new and ongoing projects
Collaborate with project engineers to ensure electrical designs meet customer specs and industry standards
Maintain compliance with SANS and IEC standards and ensure quality control in all design outputs
Minimum Requirements
3–5 years of experience in electrical design, drafting, and automation documentation
Proficiency in Eplan and AutoCAD software (Eplan P8, Pro Panel, Electric P8 modules advantageous)
Experience with MCC, PLC, and DB design and manufacturing
Familiarity with major PLC brands: Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, or Mitsubishi
Exposure to SCADA/HMI platforms such as WinCC, Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or Wonderware
Knowledge of local (SANS) and international (IEC) electrical design standards
Bilingual: English and Afrikaans preferred
Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical qualification advantageous
Age preference: 25–40
Industry background in electrical engineering, ideally within manufacturing, mining, water treatment, or industrial automation
