Diesel Mechanic – Pietermaritzburg Full Time

RPO Recruitment is actively seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our client’s team in Pietermaritzburg. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to take on the responsibility of servicing, maintaining, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, with a strong focus on heavy-duty and earthmoving machinery. Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair work on diesel engines and related systems
• Diagnose faults in engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems
• Conduct thorough inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty and earthmoving equipment
• Repair or replace faulty parts and components
• Maintain service records and complete job cards accurately
• Adhere to safety procedures and ensure compliance with company standards
• Order necessary parts and materials for repair tasks

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification or diploma in Diesel Mechanics or a related field
• Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic, particularly on heavy-duty or earthmoving equipment
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Welding and fabricating experience will be advantageous
• Red Seal certification is a strong advantage
• Must come from the construction industry
