Regional SHERQ Manager Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client is in search of a seasoned and adept Regional SHERQ Manager to join their packaging company in Durban. The chosen candidate will take charge of overseeing and managing all Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) activities within the region. This pivotal role demands a dynamic leader capable of devising and executing safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety and quality excellence throughout the region.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and uphold SHERQ policies and procedures aligned with industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to pinpoint potential hazards and risks, strategizing ways to mitigate them effectively.
• Investigate incidents or accidents, delve into root causes, and formulate action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Provide comprehensive training and guidance to staff on safety protocols, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with management to devise and implement safety improvement initiatives and campaigns.
• Monitor and report on critical safety and quality performance metrics to senior management.
• Engage with regulatory agencies, customers, and other stakeholders on SHERQ matters.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Preferably holds Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a SHERQ management role, with a preference for experience in the packaging industry.
• Proficient in relevant safety and quality regulations and standards.
• Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills.
• Possesses excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office and SHERQ management software.
