Quality Technologist Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client is looking for an experienced and skilled Quality Technologist. In this role based in Durban, you will work with the Manufacturing and Quality, Health, and Safety (QHSE) functions to ensure adherence to quality assurance processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Find solutions to extend, rework, or reformulate finished goods and raw materials that have expired or are close to expiry
• Conduct quality assurance tasks as outlined in the Quality Policies Manual and associated procedures and work instructions, including but not limited to: Finished product testing, Raw material testing and Input quality internal tests into the SAP system as part of positive release
• Liaise with other Departments on site to ensure solutions follow company protocol and processes
• Assist in shelf-life testing and monitor of Raw Materials and intermediates
• Collect and retain retention and shelf-life samples in accordance with laboratory practices
• Conduct analytical and sensory evaluation of all stock prior to finding rework solutions or shelf-life extensions
• Sampling of all stock at risk – raw material and finished goods
• Identify and implement rework solutions that reduce business risk across EUM’s

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Food Science or relevant laboratory and/or Industry experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role in a food manufacturing environment
• Appropriate experience in food testing in food laboratories
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong project management skills
• Drive for results
• Previous ERP experience, preferably in SAP
• Able to work independently and proactively, and make appropriate decisions with limited resources
• Organised and pay strong attention to details
• Ability to meet deadlines, self-manage, and handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately
