Job Title: Process Plant Engineer

RPO Recruitment’s client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Plant Engineer to join their team in the Northern Cape region of South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of our process plant, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, and optimizing plant performance to maximize production efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the process plant, ensuring all equipment is running smoothly and efficiently
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and ensure plant reliability
• Monitor plant performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvements and optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for plant operations
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to safety, health, and environmental standards
• Train and mentor junior engineering staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• GCC Mines & Works
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a GCC Engineer in a mining environment
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience on Crushing and Screening Plant with, Conveyor Systems and automated Stackers/Reclaimers and general associate infrastructure
• Experience in Planning and Improvement within an Opencast Mining and Process Plant Environment
• Strong knowledge of mineral processing plant operations and maintenance practices
• Experience with process optimization and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g. Aspen HYSYS, HYSIM) is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
