General Manager: Mining Minerals Full Time

My State-of-the-Art client has an exciting opportunity for a General Manager to be based in Gauteng. My client is one of the leading global manufacturers of quality Certified Reference Materials for the mining and exploration industries.

The General Manager will have solid people-management experience, who is a servant leader who can handle the tough situations. They will have experience in managing multiple departments with the ability to connect the dots and bring people together. The successful candidate will have the ability to strategically manage the company and culture to achieve the organizational objectives and create and sustain a profitable environment, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Involved in Sales and Business Development
• Creating budgets for the business unit
• Driving the Operations
• Responsible for driving Culture and managing various teams.
• Responsible for marketing the brand.
• Hands on approach to people management and the business
• Operations Management
• Determine and allocate resources accordingly.
• Communicate the business objectives to the team, and closely monitor performance against these objectives.
• Take accountability for continuous improvement of the region.
• Consolidate reporting requirements for the region.
• Ensure that the invoicing is processed timeously.
• Manage budgets and improve revenue within the region.
• Monitor the work area to ensure that a safe environment is maintained, and all safety rules are followed.
• Manage the region’s financial performance to assure that a quality product is provided at the least possible cost.
• Exercise judgment based on data and logic within set parameters and guidelines.
• Anticipate a broad range of problems and develop solutions.
• Implement a BBBEE strategy to meet company targets.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree Geology/Chemistry Degree – or related science
• Business Management qualification is an added advantage.
• Have rounded experience as a General Manager to manage the department heads of the business.
• Experience in driving business to ensure targets are met.
• Solid people-management experienced, servant leader who can handle the tough situations.
• Ability to pull the various people and departments together, connecting the dots between the different departments.
• Minimum of 10 years’ management experience.
• Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in a similar position and within the mining/manufacturing industry.
• Previous experience in a company reporting into a group structure is an added advantage.
