Import Controller – Durban Full Time

RPO Recruitment is actively seeking an experienced Import Controller to join our client’s team in Durban. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to manage and oversee the import process, ensuring the seamless flow of goods while complying with all regulatory and organizational requirements. Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the entire import process, including shipping, documentation, and customs clearance.
• Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
• Manage communication with shipping agents, suppliers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Handle all import-related documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and certificates of origin.
• Monitor and track shipments, resolving any delays or discrepancies efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records of all import activities for audit and reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as procurement and inventory management to align import schedules with operational needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a relevant qualification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred.
• Proven experience as an Import Controller or in a similar logistics role.
• Strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping practices.
• Proficient in using shipping and logistics software.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
