Health & Safety Officer – Construction Industry Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established construction company in the Western Cape specialising in civil and building works is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Health and Safety Officer who can join their team in Cape Town as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implementation of H&S management systems for group of companies in cohesion with ISO management system
• Generate Health and Safety File for contract works
• Conduct Risk Assessments in order to implement control measures for all contract and emergency works
• Investigate incident / accidents and report in an advisory role to Compliance Manager
• Liaise between Clients, Principal Contractors and Sub-contractors etc.
• Compliance Audits (Conducted on all contractors, site conditions & H&S system)
• Head H&S Committee Meetings to discuss all H&S related matters on all sites
• Site Inspections on online platform + necessary actioning of findings
• Compile Health and Safety Related Documentation
• Site specific Safety Plans
• Hazard Identification Risk Assessments
• Fall Protection Plans
• Method Statements
• Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
• Emergency Preparedness Instructions
• Including all other required documentation

Requirements:

• Relevant Health & Safety qualifications
• CHSO registration with SACPCMP
• Minimum 5 years’ safety experience in a civil engineering environment working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Extended knowledge of H&S and related acts
• Excellent professional work standard
• Problem solving, time management and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills on all levels
• Fully Bilingual in Afrikaans and English
• Strong MS Excel skills

Benefits:

Salary:  R360K – R480K CTC per annum
