Structural Draughtsman – Faure, Cape Town Full Time

A well-established engineering company is seeking an experienced Structural Draughtsman to join its team based in Faure, conveniently located between Somerset West and Kuils River.

The successful candidate will be an all-round structural draughting professional with strong experience in reinforced concrete and steel structures. This role is suited to someone who can confidently take structural layouts through to detailed drawings and is comfortable working across both reinforcing and steel detailing.

The ideal candidate will be an all-rounder with strong practical experience in structural draughting and detailing, rather than someone limited to one particular area.

Particular emphasis will be placed on candidates with experience across:

• Reinforced concrete detailing
• Structural layouts
• Sections and construction details
• Reinforcing detailing
• Structural steel detailing
• Steel structures

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed structural drawings for reinforced concrete structures.
• Prepare structural layout drawings, sections, elevations, and construction details.
• Complete reinforcing detailing and reinforcement drawings.
• Produce detailed steel structure drawings and detailing.
• Interpret engineering designs, structural drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Develop accurate and detailed drawings suitable for construction.
• Work closely with structural engineers and the wider project team.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and completed within required deadlines.
• Assist with drawing revisions and incorporate engineering changes as required.
• Produce detailed structural documentation across a variety of projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Structural Draughting, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field will be advantageous.
• Proven experience in structural draughting.
• Strong experience with reinforced concrete detailing.
• Experience with steel detailing is essential.
• Experience producing structural layouts, sections, and detailed drawings.
• PADS experience is required, particularly for steel detailing and related work.
• MicroStation proficiency is highly preferred.
• Candidates without MicroStation experience may be considered if they have strong AutoCAD skills and can demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
• AutoCAD experience will be acceptable as an alternative to MicroStation, provided the candidate has the required structural detailing experience.

• MicroStation – Highly preferred
• AutoCAD – Acceptable alternative
• Other relevant structural detailing software will be advantageous.
