Senior Project Engineer – Renewable Energy Industry Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a highly reputable renewable energy firm in South Africa, is currently seeking a qualified Senior Project Engineer to join their dynamic team in Cape Town as soon as possible.

In this role, you will lead the design of high-end commercial & industrial solar systems, ensuring that they comply with regulations and standards and follow best engineering practices. This exciting role includes the designing of renewable energy systems, cost projections, system production estimates and ensuring that our systems are robust in operation.

Responsibilities:

• Design of renewable energy systems according to relevant regulations and standards.
• Do site inspections to accurately design and cost new projects.
• Draw up budgets for proposed new projects.
• Create detailed drawings for information and construction purposes.
• Do all necessary calculations and documentation required for utility approval.
• Create as built drawings.
• Measure and create bills of quantities for installations.
• Accurately simulate system performances and/or productions.
• Form part of commissioning team on site during project commissioning.
• Assist with any engineering related operations and maintenance issues.
• Assist in creating design tools for engineering department.
• Assist the project specific Project Manager with any engineering related project related issues.
• Lead a design team of Project Engineers, Interns and Draughtsman to complete designs.
• Review designs from project engineers and interns.
• Professionally approve designs for compliance to regulations and standards.
• Professional sign-off plants for compliance to regulations and standards.

Requirements:

• BSc/BEng degree in Electrical Engineering
• Over 10 years’ extensive Solar PV experience on commercial projects
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA non-negotiable
• Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of design and visualization software
• Excellent organizational, time management, leadership and decision making skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices
• The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines
• Have excellent problem-solving skills with good inductive reasoning skills
• Ability to manage a team and provide guidance to junior staff

Benefits:

Salary:  R900K – R1,2M CTC per annum, negotiable
