Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Engineering Manager to join the team in Evander. As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering department, optimizing processes, and ensuring the smooth operation of our mining activities. Your role will involve managing a team, driving efficiency, promoting innovation, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership to the engineering department, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.
• Oversee and manage a team of engineers and technical staff, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluation.
• Develop, implement, and improve engineering strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance productivity, efficiency, and safety within the mining operations.
• Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety regulations, identify potential risks, and propose preventative measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and environmental departments, to coordinate activities and optimize resource allocation.
• Forecast and manage the engineering department’s budget, ensuring effective cost control and efficient utilization of resources.
• Evaluate and select appropriate vendors, suppliers, and contractors, ensuring compliance with quality standards and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay updated with the latest technological advancements in mining engineering and recommend adoption of new methods, tools, and software to enhance operational efficiency.
• Monitor and report on performance metrics, including production yields, equipment utilization, and maintenance effectiveness, to senior management.
• Foster a positive and inclusive work culture, promoting employee engagement, professional development, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• GCC Mines & Works
• At least 15 years’ experience as an Engineering Manager
• Proven track record of at least 20 years of experience in engineering  roles within the mining industry.
• In-depth knowledge of mining engineering principles, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively lead and inspire a diverse team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
• Knowledge of local mining regulations and permits is preferred.
