Senior Building QS – Construction Industry Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established building contractor based in Gauteng, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. The company specialises in a range of residential, commercial, and industrial building projects and is known for delivering quality workmanship and on-time project completion.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flows
• Measure and value work done on site (including subcontractor valuations)
• Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities (BOQs), and procurement schedules
• Manage cost reporting and ensure accurate financial forecasting
• Monitor contract compliance and manage contractual claims and variations
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams
• Conduct site visits and assessments to validate work completed
• Assist with final account preparation and project close-out
• Mentor and support junior QS staff, where applicable

Requirements:

• BTech in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in building construction (contractor-side)
• Strong understanding of JBCC and other relevant construction contracts
• Proven experience managing large-scale residential, commercial, or industrial projects
• Proficiency in QS software (e.g., CCS Candy, BuildSmart, or similar)
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Valid driver’s license and own transport
• Experience with fast-paced or high-spec construction projects
• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
