Job Title: Production Manager (Biscuits)
Location: Kommetjie
A leading food and beverage manufacturer is looking for an experienced Production Manager with strong experience in the food and biscuit manufacturing industry to join their team in Kommetjie, Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Production Manager to drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensure timely product delivery, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve production and food safety goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire Biscuit Production Department.
- Manage, develop, and supervise the Biscuit Production teams to maintain business continuity.
- Manage the development of direct reports through objective setting, monitoring, and periodic evaluations.
- Establish and maintain systems to monitor, evaluate, and report on all aspects of the department’s manufacturing processes.
- Plan daily biscuit production.
- Manage the ‘chocolate room’ to ensure timely enrobing of biscuit and cake products and reduce waste.
- Ensure adequate and efficient management of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to maintain smooth production operations and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate plans for the effective use of raw materials and packaging to reduce waste.
- Establish a structured plan for daily root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve manufacturing targets.
- Support product development and the Process technologist during the development and factory trial processes of new products.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of finished products.
- Plan Christmas production and Special Occasion’ Product ranges.
- Ensure accurate reporting of production data and maintain all required documentation.
- Oversee Internal and External Audits.
- Provide training as required.
- Create a positive working environment and foster an atmosphere that motivates colleagues to perform at their best.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure site KPIs are achieved through effective new product launches, availability, quality, and food safety.
Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric.
- Tertiary Qualification in Production/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering/Operations Management/Food Science.
- At least 5 years of experience in the food industry or similar manufacturing sector.
- Minimum of 3 years in a middle management role.
- Extensive experience in the baking industry will be advantageous.
- Experience in dealing with Woolworths will be advantageous.
- Excellent understanding of food safety and quality assurance principles.
- Strong organizing, execution, and follow-through skill set with above-average administrative abilities.
- Effective communicator at all levels.
- Attention to detail.
