Product Line & Development Manager – Plastics Full Time

RPO Recruitment is excited to announce an opportunity for a Product Line & Development Manager based in Johannesburg. Our client, a prominent player in the Plastic industry, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead their product line strategy and development initiatives.

As the Product Line & Development Manager, you will be key in identifying market opportunities, driving product innovation, and ensuring that products meet customer expectations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective product strategies that align with the company’s goals and enhance market competitiveness.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the product line strategy, including product development, positioning, and lifecycle management.
• Identify market trends and consumer needs to inform product development and innovation.
• Work closely with R&D, marketing, and sales teams to develop new products and improve existing ones.
• Manage product development projects from concept to market introduction, ensuring timely delivery.
• Conduct competitive analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses in the product line and recommend improvements.
• Develop and execute product marketing strategies to maximize market share and profitability.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including suppliers and distributors, to ensure product success.
• Monitor product performance and make data-driven recommendations for enhancements or discontinuation.
• Lead and mentor a team of product development professionals to achieve departmental goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Product Design, or a related field is required.
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in product development or product line management, preferably in plastic injection moulding or a related manufacturing industry.
• Proven track record of successfully launching new products and managing product lines.
• In-depth knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes and tooling.
