Job Summary:
RPO Recruitment’s client, are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join their team at a plastics manufacturing company in Richards Bay. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment in a fast-paced production environment. This position requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to minimize downtime
• Repair or replace defective parts or components in accordance with manufacturer specifications
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential issues and address them promptly
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as needed
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed
