Junior Draughtsman – Revit & Building Services | Consulting Industry Full Time NEW

A reputable consulting engineering firm in Cape Town is looking to identify a Junior Draughtsman to join its team from January 2027.

The successful candidate will have practical Revit and Building Services design experience and will support the engineering team in producing accurate technical drawings, models and design documentation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded Junior Draughtsman looking to develop their career within a professional Building Services consulting engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and update technical drawings and models using Revit.
• Assist with the development of Building Services designs and documentation.
• Prepare accurate drawings in accordance with engineering designs and project requirements.
• Interpret engineering designs, drawings, specifications and project information.
• Update drawings and Revit models in line with design changes.
• Assist with the coordination of Building Services designs within multidisciplinary projects.
• Work closely with engineers, technicians and other project team members.
• Ensure drawings and models are accurate, coordinated and completed within project deadlines.
• Assist with the preparation of technical design documentation.
• Maintain accurate project files and drawing records.
• Support engineers and senior draughtsmen with project deliverables.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Diploma, National Diploma, Degree or recognised qualification in Draughting, Engineering, Building Services or a related field.
• Practical Revit experience is required.
• Relevant Building Services design and draughting experience is required.
• Experience producing drawings for electrical, mechanical or other MEP Building Services will be advantageous.
• Good understanding of technical drawings and design principles.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good technical drawing and design skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple project requirements and meet deadlines.

Building Services Experience

Candidates should have practical experience working on Building Services projects, with exposure to the preparation of technical drawings and design documentation.

Experience in one or more of the following will be advantageous:

• Electrical Building Services
• Mechanical Building Services
• HVAC
• Fire Services
• Plumbing / Wet Services
• Other MEP disciplines

Software

• Revit – required
• Experience with AutoCAD will be advantageous.
• Experience with other relevant Building Services design or BIM software will be beneficial.
