Health and Safety Officer Full Time

RPO’s client is actively seeking a qualified Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Epping, Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join a thriving metal recycling group. This is a full-time, onsite position with a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

• Drive compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies
• Facilitate safety inductions and ongoing training programs
• Keep management informed of health and safety legislation and updates
• Develop safety procedures and emergency response protocols
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
• Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses
• Submit reports to management and external stakeholders as required
• Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., Department of Employment and Labour)
• Monitor and enforce contractor safety compliance
• Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 & 9001 systems

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• National Diploma in Safety/Environmental Management or similar
• SHEMTRAC, SAMTRAC, or NEBOSH IGC certification
• 3–5 years’ experience in health and safety in an industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of the OHS Act & Regulations
• Practical ISO 14001 & 9001 experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Registration with SAIOSH or SACPCMP (advantageous)
