General Manager – Steel Division Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client is looking for a General Manager (Steel Division) to join their team in Benoni, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating steel production activities, establishing production and quality control standards, and implementing cost controls. This role requires planning and directing production activities, coordinating procurement and maintenance, and optimizing resource utilization.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee production operations, ensuring efficiency and quality control.
• Manage three warehouses across different provinces, including staff and stock management.
• Forecast and procure steel requirements for upcoming projects.
• Oversee client stock management and coordinate deliveries.
• Handle all purchase orders and supplier pricing updates.
• Prepare and manage sales budgets and monthly journals.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and drive new business opportunities.
• Supervise powder coating processes for cost efficiency.
• Assist with transport logistics for multiple suppliers.
• Conduct site visits, stock takes, and travel between provinces as needed.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 qualification.
• 3-5 years of General Management experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in steel manufacturing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and work independently.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Proactive approach to management.
• Experience in quality management.
