Electrical Engineer – Building Services | Consulting Industry Full Time NEW

A leading consulting engineering environment in Cape Town is looking to identify an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its team from January 2027.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical building services and proven experience within a consulting engineering environment. This is an opportunity to become part of a professional multidisciplinary team working on a range of building services projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical building services solutions for a variety of projects.
• Prepare and review electrical engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation.
• Assist with the planning and delivery of electrical building services projects.
• Interpret project requirements, specifications and technical information.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architects, engineers and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Assist with project documentation, specifications, reports and technical submissions.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure designs comply with relevant standards and project requirements.
• Attend project and coordination meetings where required.
• Assist with site inspections and provide technical input during construction.
• Work closely with project teams to ensure projects are delivered within required timeframes and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng, BSc or BTech in Electrical Engineering or a related recognised qualification.
• Proven experience within a consulting engineering environment is essential.
• Building Services experience is required.
• Practical experience in the design and delivery of electrical building services.
• Experience on commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, data centre or similar building services projects will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering design principles and relevant standards.
• Professional registration with ECSA will be advantageous.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment.
• Ability to manage project requirements and meet deadlines.

Building Services Experience

Candidates should have practical exposure to electrical engineering within the building services sector, including experience with the design and documentation of electrical systems for buildings.

Experience across one or more of the following environments will be advantageous:

• Commercial buildings
• Residential developments
• Healthcare facilities
• Hospitality projects
• Industrial buildings
• Data centres
• Other multidisciplinary building services projects
