Job Title: Crushing Plant Maintenance Fitter

RPO Recruitment’s client is seeking a qualified and experienced Crushing Plant Maintenance Fitter to join their team in Gauteng. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of crushing equipment in line with prescribed safety practices and production standards. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of crushing plant operations and possess excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of crushing plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and faults in machinery, and promptly carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems in crushing equipment, utilizing various tools and measuring devices.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule and execute maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Adhere to safety protocols and comply with all relevant regulations and company policies.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repair details, parts used, and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team and other relevant departments to address plant maintenance requirements and minimize downtime.
• Communicate with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to procure spare parts and components as needed.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Stay updated with the latest advances in crushing plant technology, equipment, and maintenance procedures.

Requirements:

• Trade qualification as a Fitter  essential.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in maintenance and servicing of crushing plant and screening equipment in the mining industry.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of crushing plant operations, maintenance processes, and equipment components.
• Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing repairs on crushers, screens, conveyors, and related machinery.
• Excellent understanding of safety standards and regulations governing the mining industry.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Willingness to work in physically demanding conditions, occasionally in confined or elevated spaces.
