Job Title: Assistant Maintenance Manager

RPO Recruitment’s client, in the plastics industry, are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Maintenance Manager to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will assist the Maintenance Manager in overseeing the maintenance operations for our plastics manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and implementing maintenance procedures and policies.
• Coordinate and supervise the maintenance team in carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensure all machinery and equipment are properly maintained and in good working order.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist in managing maintenance budgets and expenses.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
• Train and mentor maintenance staff to improve their skills and performance.
• Assist in implementing safety procedures and regulations to create a safe work environment.
• Assist in identifying and implementing cost-saving measures to optimize maintenance operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance management in a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics industry.
• Solid understanding of maintenance best practices and procedures.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong technical aptitude and mechanical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends when necessary.
