Technical Buyer Full Time

RPO’s client is seeking a skilled and analytical Technical Buyer to join their procurement team in Alberton. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring technical goods and services essential for manufacturing operations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical knowledge and proven experience in a high-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure mechanical, electrical, and engineering components in line with technical specifications.
• Liaise with engineering and production teams to ensure clarity of procurement requirements.
• Evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, and finalise terms to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders and ensure on-time delivery of critical items.
• Build and manage relationships with key local and international suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
• Manage stock levels for critical components and initiate re-orders based on lead times and usage.
• Resolve procurement-related issues, including delivery delays and non-conformance reports.
• Support internal audits and reporting by maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric with a relevant technical qualification 
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Technical Buyer in a manufacturing or purchasing environment.
• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical components, tooling, and production-related materials.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and analytical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
