Structural Rebar Detailer – Consulting Industry Full Time

A well-established consulting engineering firm is seeking a Structural Rebar Detailer to join its growing team in Durbanville, Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with experience in reinforcement detailing to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate reinforcement detailing and bending schedules while working closely with structural engineers to ensure quality, compliance, and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate rebar bending schedules and reinforcement detailing drawings for structural projects.
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop detailed reinforcement layouts.
• Collaborate with structural engineers to ensure detailing complies with project specifications.
• Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with relevant South African standards.
• Maintain organised drawing registers, revisions, and project documentation.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase and assist with resolving site queries.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of reinforcement materials.
• Conduct site visits and assist with reinforcement inspections where required.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a Structural Rebar Detailer.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete detailing and construction principles.
• Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following:
  • AutoCAD
  • CADS RC
  • AutoPADS
  • Similar reinforcement detailing software
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of relevant SANS standards and reinforcement detailing requirements.

Advantageous

• Experience using specialist rebar detailing software.
• Certificate or formal training in Rebar Detailing.
