Senior Building QS – Construction Industry – R1,5M – R1,2M Full Time

Description:

RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established and reputable construction company in South Africa, is currently seeking to employ a highly experienced and qualified Senior Building Quantity Surveyor who can bring significant expertise and enhance the already impressive achievements of their successful team in Johannesburg.

Responsibilities:

• Measurement of quantities (for programming, valuations and payment purpose) on a regular basis
• Compiling required timeously
• Compiling monthly payment certificates
• Recording additional work and variation claims
• Communicate with consulting engineers/architects/PQS’s in matters of variance and claims
• Monitor adherence to company procedures (All senior management)

Requirements:

• BTech/BSc/BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying
• Over 10 years’ extensive experience in a Quantity Surveying capacity in a contractor’s environment
• Must have thorough knowledge of all contract conditions such as main contract and sub-contract documents; conditions of payment; insurance details; construction guarantees/performance guarantees/retention; disputes; BEE requirements of contract; building relationships with BEE clients/contractors and suppliers
• Must have knowledge of dealing with local business forums and community
• Thorough knowledge of attempts that allowables can be improved upon before placing orders; generating monthly allowables; the submission of monthly valuations and certificates
• Skilled in managing costs of contracts; identifying, compiling and evaluating claims such as:
  • Extension of time claims
  • Expense and loss
  • Acceleration claims
  • Insurance claims
• Experience in assisting with tendering
• Financially pro-active with regards to new rates and items; negotiation; assisting in obtaining the best prices from suppliers and subcontractors; finalising claims and accounts

Benefits:

Salary: R1,2M – R1,5M CTC per annum, negotiable
