Plant Manager – Construction Industry Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable and well established civil contractor in KwaZulu-Natal is on the lookout for a hardworking and committed Plant Manager for their successful team in Durban.  

Responsibilities:

• Managing the day-to-day operations of the plant department, including servicing, maintenance, and repair activities within the workshops.
• Ensuring optimal working conditions for all plant and equipment.
• Implementing cost control measures for plant and spares.
• Providing recommendations for new plant purchases.
• Preparing maintenance and repair budgets and estimates.
• Planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing daily operations to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Managing, coordinating, and ensuring timely repair of plant across all construction sites.
• Increasing production, asset capacity, and flexibility while minimizing costs and upholding quality standards.
• Effectively allocating resources and maximizing asset utilization for optimal results.
• Implementing strategies aligned with company initiatives, providing clear direction and focus.
• Monitoring operations, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.
• Developing systems and processes to track, optimize, and measure productivity, standards, metrics, and performance targets, ensuring effective return on assets.
• Addressing employee issues, resolving grievances, and administering collective bargaining agreements.

Requirements:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma or a Trade Tested Artisan
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in the industry
• Must have management experience
• Proficient in MS Office
• Must possess a strong understanding of plant maintenance, repair, and cost control, along with a proven ability to optimize operations and drive productivity
