Plant Maintenance Supervisor (2 x Month Contract) – Mining Industry – $19 000 – $15 000 Contract

RPO Recruitment’s client in the Mining Industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Plant Maintenance Supervisor (2 x Month Contract) in Tanzania. The ideal candidate will be responsible to teach, coach, train the existing Tanzanian staffed mine about maintenance, preventative maintenance, maintenance principals and methodologies, aimed at reduce machine downtime. They will also lead the installation and commissioning of a leach feed thickener, ensuring adherence to specifications and operational efficiency.  If this sounds like you, apply now!

Responsibilities:

• Teach and coach mine staff on maintenance best practices, preventative maintenance strategies, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Develop training materials and hands-on coaching sessions to improve technical competency.
• Ensure knowledge transfer in line with industry standards and best practices.
• Conduct maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a three-stage crushing plant (Jaw Crusher and two sets of Cone Crushers – 130tph).
• Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of four ball mills (3 x 15tph and 1 x 45tph, total 90tph).
• Manage maintenance and servicing of the Standard CIL (Carbon-in-Leach) circuit to ensure efficient processing operations.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of tailings pumps, ensuring optimal performance and reduced downtime.
• Lead the installation and commissioning of a leach feed thickener, ensuring adherence to specifications and operational efficiency.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and methodologies to extend equipment lifespan.
• Establish and enforce maintenance SOPs to improve efficiency and minimize unscheduled breakdowns.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections and diagnostics to preempt failures and optimize machine uptime.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with mine safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Promote a strong safety culture by mentoring local staff on safe work procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and training sessions.
• Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques
• Supervise and coordinate the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, including conveyors, pumps, ventilation systems, and other underground mining 

Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
• Fitter Trade Test (Fitter, Turner, or Millwright)
• Supervisor / Foreman Certificate
• Experience with maintenance and repair with a 3 stage crushing – Jaw and two sets of cones (130tph)
• Experience with maintenance and repair with 4 balls mills – 3 x 15tph and 1 x 45 tph, (90tph)
• Experience with maintenance and repair with Standard CIL circuit
• Experience with maintenance and repair with Tailings Pump
• Experience with the installation of a leach feed thickener
• 20 years experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Foreman
• 20 years process plant experience (mills, pumps, conveyors, crushers, process plants).
• 35 years of mining experience
• Will to work in Tanzania
