RPO Recruitment is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our client’s team in Epping, Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a health and safety professional to take ownership of the compliance, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental systems in a fast-paced industrial environment. Implement, maintain, and monitor Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) systems in line with legislation and company standards.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions.
Drive awareness and training initiatives to build a culture of safety within the workplace.
Ensure legal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
Assist with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 compliance and audits.
Maintain HSE documentation and records.
Liaise with stakeholders on HSE matters and ensure continuous improvement.
Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
National Diploma in Safety and/or Environmental Management (or similar qualification)
Certificate in Safety Management (SHEMTRAC, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH IGC, or equivalent)
3–5 years’ experience in a full-time health and safety role within a manufacturing, engineering, production, or construction environment
Strong working knowledge of the OHS Act and relevant regulations
Practical understanding of implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 systems
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Computer literacy (MS Office Suite essential)
Registration with SAIOSH and SACPCMP is advantageous
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
A hands-on, proactive approach to safety and compliance
