Geologist Junior – Mining Industry – R950k – R750k Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s Client is urgently seeking the expertise of an Geologist Junior in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will assist and expand iron ore resources by applying scientific methods such as remote sensing, geophysics, geological mapping, exploration drilling and representing data in 3D models, assist in updating of current models using secondary drilling, pit mapping and blast-hole data to deliver an accurate mining model as well as covering of the value chain from reserve to planning to final product by optimizing grade and fragmentation.

Responsibilities:

• Geological services
• Core sampling and logging
• Geological software and data base administration
• Mine planning
• Grade control
• Monitoring and reporting,
• Research and development
• Reconciliation
• SHERQ adherence and compliance and Work Ethics
• Sound knowledge of iron ore geology and resources modelling
• Understanding of reginal geology including prospecting, exploration and geostatistics,
• Grade control and scheduling
• Drilling and exploration experience
• Surface mining experience and short term planning
• Metallurgical activates
• Fragmentation and PSD
• Computer Literacy
• Advanced user of Geological software
• Basic user of MS Word and MS PowerPoint; Intermediate user of MS Excel
• SHERQ Knowledge of policies and procedures
• Working knowledge of safety, health, quality and environmental policies and requirements

Requirements:

• BSc Hons in Geology or related fields
• 1 year operational general geology and exploration experience
• 1 year operational surface mining / opencast mining experience
• 1 year operational fragmentation analysis and PSD experience (Recommended)
• Geological Society of SA (Recommended)
• South African Council for Natural Scientists (Recommended)
