Fire Designer – Consulting Industry Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable consulting engineering firm based in Pretoria is currently seeking to appoint a skilled Fire Designer to join their multidisciplinary building services team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing fire protection and fire detection designs for commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments
• Developing detailed Revit models and technical drawings
• Coordinating fire services with HVAC, wet services, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines
• Assisting with smoke ventilation and sprinkler system layouts
• Producing technical documentation and construction drawings
• Ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
• Participating in project coordination meetings and resolving design clashes

Requirements:

• Relevant qualification in Draughting, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or similar
• Proven experience in fire protection and fire detection design within a consulting engineering environment
• Strong proficiency in Revit is essential
• Experience using AutoCAD and other relevant design software advantageous
• Sound understanding of fire protection systems, sprinkler systems, fire detection, and smoke ventilation design
• Knowledge of relevant fire design standards and building regulations
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary project team
• Strong Revit modelling and detailing capability
• Good understanding of BIM coordination processes
• Attention to detail and strong technical ability
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
