Description:
RPO Recruitment’s client, a highly reputable building and civil contractor in Gauteng, is currently seeking a qualified Estimator to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Building or BTech in Civil/Quantity Surveying/Construction Management or similar
- Between 6 and 10 years’ experience working as an Estimator in the construction industry
- A solid grounding in Building and Civil Engineering practices
- A solid understanding of buildability, resourcing required and programming
- Familiar with standard conditions of contract for building and civil engineering works such as JBCC, FIDIC, NEC3, etc.
- Aware of the importance of specifications being adhered to in the pricing and submission of tenders
- Familiar with standard methods of measurement for building and civil engineering works
- Conversant with Bills of Quantities for the construction industry
- Be able to read and understand drawings from the consultants, such as architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.
- Aware of labour and plant production figures, average waste factors, etc.
- Be aware of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality issues, in practical and costing terms
- Be aware of site conditions for working
- Be aware of dealing with the local community and any costs that this may entail
- Must be conversant with CCS “Candy” Construction Software
- Must be conversant with MS Office Suite, in particular Excel and Word
- Extract materials from BOQ / drawings and compile for the buying department in order to send out enquiries to the supply chain
- Extract subcontract packages from BOQ/drawings and compile for tender buying to send out to the supply chain
- Have a good working knowledge of building up worksheet rates for Direct Works such as Concrete, Formwork and Brickwork and Plasterwork.
Benefits:
Salary: R720K – R1M CTC per annum, negotiable
