Electrical Engineer – Building Services | Consulting Industry Full Time

An industry leading consulting engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Cape Town office. This permanent opportunity is ideal for a motivated engineer with a strong background in building services consulting, delivering electrical designs for commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use developments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects while working closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services systems for commercial, residential, retail, and mixed-use developments.
• Prepare electrical designs in accordance with client requirements and relevant SANS standards.
• Coordinate electrical services with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, and design documentation.
• Estimate electrical loads and bulk supply requirements for new developments.
• Liaise with municipal authorities and utility providers regarding electrical connections and infrastructure.
• Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor submissions.
• Procure electrical equipment, including lighting, generators, UPS systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Monitor project costs and assist with budgeting and cost control.
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction support throughout project execution.
• Ensure projects are delivered within programme, budget, and quality requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in electrical engineering within a consulting or building services environment.
• Proven experience on commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use development projects.
• Strong understanding of South African electrical standards, including SANS 10142 and related regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license.

Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa will be advantageous but is not essential.
