Contracts Manager | Building Construction Full Time

A leading construction company is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join its Cape Town team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for a construction professional with extensive experience managing multiple building projects, leading site teams, and delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will oversee multiple construction contracts while driving commercial performance, operational excellence, client satisfaction, and compliance across a diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple building construction projects simultaneously.
• Oversee contracts ranging from approximately R50 million to R300 million.
• Lead the full contract management process from project award through to completion.
• Negotiate, administer, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, construction legislation, and industry standards.
• Develop and implement contract management systems and best practices.
• Manage project budgets, profitability, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Lead change management, variation orders, and contractual negotiations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and project risks.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary construction teams and mentor site management staff.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ, quality management, and company policies.
• Manage community engagement and stakeholder relationships where required.

Minimum Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience within the construction industry.
• Proven experience managing multiple building construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration and commercial management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Excellent knowledge of South African construction regulations and industry standards.
• Valid driver’s licence.
