RPO Recruitment’s client are seeking a dynamic and experienced Buyer to join their clothing retail team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fashion, a keen eye for trends, and a strong understanding of the retail market. The Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing merchandise for our stores, ensuring that our product offerings are on-trend, competitively priced, and meet the needs of our target customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze sales trends, market data, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for new product offerings
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to maximize profitability
• Manage inventory levels and product mix to meet sales targets and minimize overstock
• Collaborate with the merchandising team to plan and execute promotional events and sales campaigns
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of products, vendors, and suppliers to make data-driven decisions
• Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer preferences to inform buying decisions

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer in the retail industry, preferably in clothing
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and customer feedback
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• A passion for fashion and a strong understanding of the retail market
