Underwriter – Commercial Insurance Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client is looking for an Underwriter to join their team in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of focus, attention to detail, and relevant industry experience. The role encompasses underwriting and claims responsibilities within the commercial insurance division.

Responsibilities:

• Commercial and personal underwriting

• Marine underwriting (advantageous)

• Quotations for new business

• Policy amendments and endorsements

• Assist with policy renewals

• Conduct pre-renewal discussions and negotiations

• Instruct insurers to renew policies

• Prepare and bind presentations (PowerPoint)

• Review loss ratios

• Update motor vehicle values

• Prepare renewal comparisons for client presentations (Excel)

• Capture amendments and renewals on the Ski Host System

• Compile and forward relevant correspondence and supporting documentation to clients

Requirements:

• Matric

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the insurance brokerage industry

• Experience within an insurance brokerage is essential

• Knowledge of exchange control (advantageous)

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Strong product knowledge; marine knowledge is an advantage

• RE5 certification
