Senior Water & Sanitation Engineer/Technologist – Consulting Industry Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading civil engineering consulting firm in Gauteng, is currently in search of a qualified and experienced Senior Water & Sanitation Engineer or Technologist who can join their successful team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.  

Responsibilities:

• Design and prepare preliminary and final plans for water and sanitation designs of bulk water networks, Storm & Flood water, Sustainable Hydrology design, Pumps & Pipeline design, Pumpstation design, Slurry design, Sewer & Sewage Pumpstation design, Urban drainage design, and Water Resource planning and management.
• Ensure the estimation of project cost, drawing-up of contracts and developing of specifications for labour, material, and equipment.
• Develop preliminary engineering treatments to determine construction feasibility and estimated cost.
• Prepares final layout drawings and stress calculations.
• Recommend construction methods best suited to soil types encountered.
• Discuss plans, specifications, and works schedules with contractors, utility companies and other governmental agencies.
• Ensure the survey, staking, layout, and inspection of construction projects.
• Ensure the set-up of the project and project meetings.
• Ensure project reviews, quality assurance, cost control, health & safety and invoicing of the project.
• Prepare a Close-out report.
• Compile a project budget and monitoring thereof to optimise cost savings and/or profit margins.
• Apply and Adhere to all Quality Management Procedures
• Implement and monitor Cost Management Measures.
• Support, Mentor and Guide Junior & Graduate Engineers
• Water & Sanitation Engineering Designs and Plans
• Project and Construction Documentation
• Engineering Investigations
• Project & Cost Monitoring
• Communication with stakeholders
• Set-up of Construction and Health & Safety of the project
• Site monitoring
• Budgeting and Cost Management

Requirements:

• BSc/BEng or BTech degree in Civil Engineering
• Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration with ECSA
• Over 8 years’ experience in Water & Sanitation Engineering Consulting
• Experience in Water & Sanitation Engineering Design
• Experience in Site-based work
• Knowledge of Water & Sanitation Engineering Design
• Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety laws and regulations
• Proficient in Microsoft office. Microsoft Projects, Auto CAD, Civil 3D, HECRAS, EPANET, Model Maker, Surge Analysis Software, Civil Designer, Stormwater Software.
• Project Management knowledge
• Business Acumen

• Knowledge of ISO 9001
• Budgeting and Cost management skills
