Senior Civil Estimator- Construction Industry Full Time

Our client, a well-established civil engineering construction company, in the Somerset West area, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineering Estimator to join their leadership team. This is a senior-level position offering direct reporting lines to executive management and significant influence over business development and profitability.

Requirements:

• B.Eng Civil Engineering or BSc Quantity Surveying
• Professional Registration (Civil or QS)
• 12-15 years of estimating experience within civil engineering construction
• Proven track record in senior estimating roles
• Advanced proficiency in CANDY/CSS estimating software
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel capabilities
• Comprehensive knowledge of contract suites: GCC, JBCC, NEC, and FIDIC
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Exceptional English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Outstanding planning and negotiation abilities
• Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel as required
• Leadership qualities suitable for senior management interaction

Key Responsibilities

Tendering Excellence:

• Identify and evaluate tender opportunities aligned with company capabilities and profit objectives
• Develop comprehensive cost estimates utilizing input from tender support teams
• Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard identification for all tender submissions
• Create detailed work plans and project strategies
• Present fully costed tender proposals to executive management for approval
• Ensure competitive positioning in all tender submissions
• Lead tender adjudication meetings and decision-making processes

Contract Management & Client Relations:

• Conduct client meetings and manage relationship development
• Lead post-tender negotiations and contract finalization
• Establish cost parameters for successful projects and communicate to site teams
• Support project teams in maintaining budget adherence
