Senior Accountant Full Time

RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established Commodity Trading company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team of professionals in Fourways, JHB. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing their financial transactions and reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This position will require excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

 
Responsibilities: 

• Review cashbook to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial transactions
• Reconcile Cashbook Monthly
• Reconcile Customer Balances – Age Analysis
• Reconcile Supplier Balances – Age Analysis
• Perform all Balance Sheet Reconciliations
• Maintain Asset Register
• Property, plant and equipment & depreciation maintenance
• Review to ensure accurate records of all financial transactions
• Maintain inventory records
• Maintaining Payment Schedule and loading payments
• Assists with following up on outstanding payments
• Perform cost variance analysis and identify areas for cost reduction
• Assist in preparation of audit file
• Assist in implementing and enforcing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Collaborate with internal departments, external vendors and auditors
• Assist in financial planning and analysis activities
• Report back on a weekly basis on costing on each project
• Project and Cost accounting controls for all projects
• Proactively manage Suppliers and Customer accounts
• Oversee asset management
• Month end closing process
• Year end audit
• Producing Financial Models
• Valuating a mining asset
• Tax Compliance
• VAT & VAT SD
• Liaising with SARS
• EMP 201
• EMP 501
• Prov Tax – Assist
• Annual tax Assist

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 5 years post-articles experience, of which 2 years are in mining/commodity trading
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAGE, E-Filing) and MS Office Suite
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
