RPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable company in South Africa specialising in services such as earthing and lightning protection, automation, manufacturing, portable power solutions, industrial instrumentation, renewable energy solutions, electrical protection, testing, and maintenance, is currently looking to hire a Proposal Engineer or Specialist who can join their successful and growing team in Cape Town as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise directly with Customer for quotations and orders on small to large projects.
- Check regularly the websites for tenders which are advertised and meet the company’s scope of supply.
- Attend pre-tender site meetings for technical and commercial clarification.
- Communicate with Engineers when technical or design information is required or needed.
- Obtain prices from suppliers for preparing tenders.
- Calculation of labour prices for tender purposes.
- Prepare commercial documentation to accomplish tenders for submission.
- Ensure tender compilation is correct and complete according to company’s standards and filed correctly
- Ensure delivery of completed tenders on date and within time.
- Follow up of the tender outcome after submission.
- Answer clarification enquiries should there be any questions from the submitted tender.
- After successful award of tender, clarification to project managers and hand over to the relevant department for execution of the project.
- Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude and mitigating such risk.
- Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information & pricing.
- Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
- Coordinate insurance requirement with Risk Manager.
- Build effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.
- Participate in the transfer of information on successful projects including Job Kick-off Meetings
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Electrical Trade Test or BSc/BTech degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10 Years’ relevant industry experience
- Certificate/Diploma in Site Management or Project Management or Electrical Site Manager/Supervisor with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
- Strong mathematical and computer skills.
- Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, MS Projects, PowerPoint)
- Expertise in one or more areas of Construction/Electrical fields
- Ability to break down construction operations into a logical sequence of activities
- Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must possess a strong work ethic.
Benefits:
Salary: R540K – R660K CTC per annum
