RPO Recruitment’s client, a respected consulting engineering firm in Cape Town is looking for a highly skilled Civil Engineer or Civil Engineering Technologist to join their team. The successful candidate will have solid experience in the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects and be capable of managing assignments from concept to close-out.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Project Leader or Senior Design Engineer on various civil engineering projects
- Provide input during project inception and assist clients with securing project funding
- Assess project challenges and propose effective and practical engineering solutions
- Compile, edit, and evaluate technical and project reports
- Manage data collection and prepare detailed project documentation
- Supervise and guide team members in drafting, detailing, and design tasks
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 quality assurance standards
- Produce intricate civil designs for municipal infrastructure
- Review drawings and technical designs prepared by project teams
- Participate in and lead design review sessions
- Prepare man-hour estimates, track project budgets, and maintain financial control
- Conduct client surveys and gather client reference documentation
- Archive project information according to company and industry standards
- Prepare project summary sheets and close-out documentation
- Execute comprehensive project management responsibilities
- Prepare tender documents, specifications, and performance criteria
- Oversee and administer construction contracts throughout implementation
- Engage in business development, client interaction, and identifying upcoming project opportunities
- Contribute to tender submissions and pricing
- Mentor, train, and support junior engineers, technologists, and technicians
- Assist with workforce planning and training initiatives within the division
- Perform any other duties as required by the Division Manager or Managing Director
Requirements:
- BSc/BEng/BTech degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng)
- 8–12 years of experience in civil engineering
- Strong proficiency in designing roads, stormwater, sewer, and water systems
- Hands-on experience in project management and contract administration
- Proficiency in relevant software packages
