RPO Recruitment’s client is looking for a Plant Engineer to join a great mining company in Limpopo. We’re looking for a strong leader and team player who’s self-motivated and enthusiastic.
As a Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety regulations, managing safety systems, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. You will also conduct risk assessments and audits, identify risks and threats to the process, and develop appropriate reactions. In addition, you will oversee the plant and surface engineering section, structure responsibilities appropriately to achieve optimal work output, and manage projects in your area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and COP’s, as well as adherence to health and safety standards.
- Implement safe work standards and procedures, supporting the Plant Manager in operational duties, including human resource management.
- Collaborate with the operational team to meet plant throughput and production targets.
- Lead planned maintenance system implementation, engineering standards, and plant optimization efforts.
- Specify equipment for procurement and manage quality for on-site construction work and equipment fabrication.
- Oversee critical spares inventory, operating spares, and consumables for maintenance.
- Conduct failure and root cause analysis, implement problem-solving strategies, and manage costs effectively.
- Compile annual operating cost budgets, majors, abnormal budgets, and capital expenditures, providing monthly reports on plant and cost performance.
- Lead and manage teams, assess performance, and conduct disciplinary hearings as needed.
- Report directly to the Plant Manager and manage capital projects.
Requirements
Education:
- GCC Mines & Works.
- National Diploma or Degree in the Engineering field.
- MDP or equivalent will be advantageous.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel).
- Formal training in Planned Maintenance will be an advantage.
Experience:
- Work experience on process plant or platinum concentrator.
- Equipment maintenance systems experience is essential.
- Previous management experience is a requirement.
- Knowledge of pumps, pipe systems for slurry and clear water.
- Knowledge of bulk materials handling (conveyor belts and associated systems).
- Knowledge of classification equipment (screening, DMS drum, cyclones).
- Knowledge of comminution equipment (crushing, milling).
- Must have a good understanding of fundamental principles of business management.
Additional:
- Must be willing to work overtime and attend to breakdowns efficiently during work hours and after
hours. - Must reside in close proximity to the operations (Thabazimbi area).
