RPO’s client is actively seeking an experienced Underwriter – Commercial Insurance to join their team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to join a brokerage environment that values accuracy, initiative, and client-focused service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial insurance underwriting, with the ability to manage both underwriting and claims responsibilities confidently.
This is a full-time, onsite position.
Responsibilities:
Underwriting:
- Manage commercial and personal lines underwriting.
- Provide quotations for new business.
- Process policy amendments and endorsements.
- Assist with renewals, including pre-renewal negotiations and insurer instructions.
- Prepare and bind presentations (PowerPoint).
- Review loss ratios and adjust motor values to current market value.
- Compile pre-renewal and renewal comparisons for client presentations (Excel).
- Capture policy changes on the Ski Host system.
- Draft and send client correspondence with all necessary documentation.
- Marine underwriting experience will be advantageous.
Claims:
- Assist with processing claims across all insurance classes.
- Ensure all documentation is received for claims.
- Capture claims on Ski Host and shared file systems.
- Follow up with insurers and service providers.
- See claims through to finalisation.
Requirements:
- Matric
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a brokerage environment.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Ski Host or similar systems.
- Strong product knowledge (Marine experience a plus).
- Knowledge of exchange control is advantageous.
- RE5 certification is essential.
