A well-established company in the manufacturing and supply chain industry is looking for an experienced Shipping Specialist with a strong background in import, export, and transportation logistics to plan, execute, and optimise end-to-end shipping activities while ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities:

Develop, map, and review shipping plans aligned to sales and financial forecasts

Consolidate quarterly shipping plans to optimise costs

Monitor and manage monthly shipping budgets against project allocations

Manage and improve shipping and distribution methods to enhance efficiency

Provide logistics and shipping support for new and potential orders
-
Propose shipping solutions for local and international customers
-
Manage SLAs and performance of third-party service providers (freight forwarders, clearing agents, transporters)

Oversee customs submissions and shipping documentation for imports and exports

Ensure compliance with transport regulations, INCOTERMS, and applicable legislation

Prepare shipping reports and presentations for management and project planning
Requirements:

Diploma in Shipping, Maritime, Logistics, Transportation, or NQF 6 equivalent
-
Minimum 8 years’ experience in shipping, logistics, or transportation, including imports and exports

Strong knowledge of customs, VAT, and shipping regulatory requirements
-
Extensive experience with INCOTERMS and transport compliance standards

Understanding of dangerous and/or flammable goods handling (advantageous)

Experience working with ERP systems; SAP knowledge beneficial

Valid Code 08 driver’s licence

Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
