RPO Recruitment’s client is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their team in Atlantis, Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general maintenance and mechanical repairs on facility equipment, ensuring machinery operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, while upholding Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance on mechanical installations and ensure all activities are executed correctly and timeously

Take ownership of equipment reliability and the maintenance process, including troubleshooting

Maintain an effective spare parts inventory

Develop and document maintenance procedures and enforce factory protocols

Support safety, reliability, and efficiency standards

Respond promptly to emergencies and comply with safety protocols

Participate in food safety and quality-related functions as part of the FSMS and QC systems
Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance, preferably in the food or FMCG sectors

Trade Test passed (relevant field)

Valid, unendorsed driver’s license and own transport

Familiarity with both electrical (PLCs, VFDs, automation) and mechanical systems (welding, pneumatics, plumbing, part fabrication)

Reliability centered maintenance certification (e.g. CMRP) advantageous

Hands-on experience with high-speed food/beverage packaging equipment beneficial

Excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills

Flexibility to work after hours or on weekends as per production demands
