RPO’s client is actively seeking a skilled Commercial and Short-Term Underwriter to join their growing team in George, Western Cape. This is a newly created, permanent position, offering an opportunity to work in a dynamic, performance-driven environment where balance and wellbeing are part of the culture.
This role is ideal for a self-sufficient, highly experienced underwriter who can hit the ground running without supervision. Responsibilities:
- Handle all aspects of short-term and commercial underwriting, including buildings and cyber security cover.
- Ensure strict compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with a small, agile team and adjust to new centralized systems.
- Maintain high service standards while working independently.
- Accurately assess risk and process new business, renewals, and endorsements.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial and short-term underwriting.
- Strong working knowledge of multiple product providers — not limited to a single brand.
- Must be fully registered with all relevant industry regulators (no lapsed certifications will be accepted).
- Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Candidates with brokerage experience will be highly preferred.
